What vehicles can I hire from Chennai Travels?
Cars, vans and buses — a fleet of over 200 cars, 100 vans and 50 buses. Cars include Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Ertiga, Innova, Innova Crysta and Innova Hycross, along with Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz for luxury hire. Vans include 12, 13 and 14 seater Tempo Travellers, the Force Urbania, a 20 seater van and the 16 seater Mahindra Tourister. For larger groups there is a 21 seater mini bus.
How is the charge calculated for a local trip in Chennai?
Local trips are booked as a package of hours and kilometres — for example 4 hours / 40 km or 8 hours / 80 km for a car, and 5 hours / 50 km, 10 hours / 100 km or 15 hours / 150 km for a Tempo Traveller. Anything beyond the package is charged at the published additional-kilometre and additional-hour rates.
How is an outstation trip charged?
On the total running kilometres for the whole trip, up and down, with a minimum coverage of 250 km per day. Any distance beyond that is charged on the per-kilometre rate for the vehicle.
Where do the kilometres start and stop being counted?
Office to office. The meter runs from our garage and closes back at our garage, not from your pickup point.
What is driver bata?
A daily allowance for the driver, charged in addition to the running kilometres. For a 12 to 14 seater Tempo Traveller on an outstation trip it is ₹700 per day. The rate for each vehicle is shown in its tariff table.
What charges are extra, on top of the tariff?
Toll gate charges, parking charges and other-state permit charges are all extra, and GST is charged at 5% on top. These depend on the route you take, so they are settled against the actual trip rather than quoted in the tariff.
Is GST included in the rates shown?
No. The published rates are before tax, and GST of 5% is added.
How do I pay?
Spot payment — cash to the driver at the end of the trip.
Are the rates on this site final?
They are current, but they move with the diesel price, so the rate at the time you book may differ from the one published here. Call or WhatsApp us before your trip and we will confirm the rate that applies.
Is the air conditioning used on hill routes?
No. On hill routes the air conditioning is switched off — the climb puts the engine under enough load without it.
Do you cover trips outside Tamil Nadu?
Yes. Bangalore, Mysore, Coorg, Chikmagalur, Munnar and Tirupati are all regular routes, among others. Trips crossing a state border carry an other-state permit charge, which is extra.
