Terms and conditions for hiring a vehicle with a driver
These terms apply to every vehicle booked through ChennaiTravels.org. An advance confirms the booking, the balance is paid to the driver, and GST at 5% is added to the bill. Distances on this site are approximate; on a per-km fare the odometer is final. Ask the desk on WhatsApp 90039 62006.
- Both numbers answered 24/7
- Trained, background-checked drivers
- Advance to book, balance to the driver
Booking
- Book on WhatsApp 90039 62006 or by calling 90039 61006, with the date, the route and the number travelling. There is no online booking and no form.
- The desk replies with one fare for the vehicle that fits your group, and confirms it when you book.
- Rates on this site move with the diesel price, so the fare the desk confirms at booking is the one that applies.
- Every vehicle is booked with its driver. Vehicles are not rented out to drive yourself.
Payment
- An advance confirms every booking, from a car to a bus. The desk tells you the amount, and how to pay it, when it confirms.
- The balance is paid to the driver on the trip, in cash or by UPI.
- Where a page shows a Get price button instead of a figure, the desk gives the fare on WhatsApp.
Cancellation
- Tell the desk on WhatsApp or by phone as early as you can.
- A cancellation more than 24 hours before pickup costs nothing, and the advance is refunded within 7 working days, to the account it was paid from.
- Inside 24 hours, once a vehicle and driver are assigned, a cancellation charge applies; the desk states it when it confirms your booking.
Distances and kilometres
- Every distance on this site is approximate: a road distance from Google Maps, rounded and dated, for planning a trip.
- Detours, diversions, road blocks and U-turns are not included in those distances.
- On a per-km fare, the vehicle's odometer reading is final. The kilometres billed are the kilometres the odometer shows, not the figure on this site.
- On a round trip, the odometer is read from where the vehicle starts and back to it.
Round-trip fares
- A round trip is billed per km, from where the vehicle starts and back. Per-km rates are for trips out of Chennai.
- Each day of an outstation trip is billed for at least the vehicle's daily minimum, shown beside its rate; kilometres beyond it are billed at the per-km rate.
- Driver bata is charged for each calendar day. A trip that leaves on one date and returns on the next is two days of bata.
One-way drops
- A one-way drop is billed from Chennai to your drop point at the vehicle's one-way rate, for at least 130 km.
- Driver bata is charged once for the trip, and nothing is charged for the empty return.
- A one-way drop is point to point. A drop of more than 100 km includes one stop for a meal; other stops, or waiting on the way, are charged at the rate the desk states when you book.
- A fixed one-way total to a place includes the toll, parking and permit it lists.
Local hire in Chennai
- Local trips in Chennai are sold as packages of hours and kilometres, not by the per-km rate.
- Time and distance beyond the package are charged at the extra-hour and extra-km rates shown with each vehicle.
- On a Tempo Traveller or Mahindra Tourister, use beyond 7 hours is billed as the 10-hour package, and beyond 12 hours as the 15-hour package.
What the fare does not include
- Toll, parking and other-state permits, paid at actual, unless a fixed total lists them.
- Parking at Chennai Airport.
- A pickup at Chennai Airport between 12.30 a.m. and 4 a.m. carries extra driver bata and a night charge.
- Temple and sightseeing entry tickets.
- GST at 5%, added to the total bill.
In the vehicle
- The AC is switched off on hill roads.
- Smoking, alcohol and anything illegal are not allowed in the vehicle.
- Damage to the vehicle during the hire, cleaning included, is paid by the customer. We set the cost according to the damage.
- Tell the desk how much luggage you are carrying when you book; the desk confirms what the vehicle takes.
- Luggage beyond that goes on a roof carrier where the vehicle has one, or needs a larger vehicle, and is charged extra at the rate the desk states. The driver may refuse luggage that cannot be carried safely.
Disputes
- Any dispute arising from a booking is subject to the courts in Chennai.
